WHAT IS A BOOT CHIEF?

|Harry Pate (Boot Chief) and Paul Cobb (CO)... 1964

Don't know if you can or want to use this.  It was taken on June 25, 1964 in
the Chiefs Mess on the Parks.  I'm the guy with the sign around my neck and
sitting next to me is the CO, Cmdr. Paul Cobb.  On the 1964 Chiefs Test only
two guys in the entire Squadron made Chief, myself and a BT both of us on
the Parks.  I reenlisted the next day and the day after that I was
transferred to Shore duty at the Fleet ASW school in San Diego.  The ship
had just returned from the first West Pac cruise after completing FRAM.  My
Daughter happened to find this picture going through some family pictures.
