Sam.......

Another project you may want to enter onto our site......long story......this morning I got an email from a gentleman saying he has a hand painted picture of the Parks .....painted by a Morgan Slayton and presented to a Jack Flake in July of 1945. Turns out Morgan Slayton was the first Captain of the Floyd B. Parks and Jack Flake was a civilian working in the shipyards in Orange, Texas. Apparently Jack did some work on the Parks and Captain Slayton ......to show his appreciation.....presented Jack Flake with this hand painted picture. This man who contacted me...William English....is married to Jack Flakes niece. When Jack and his wife passed away everything passed on to her. Bill English was going through things recently and came across this picture and thought some Parks crew member might like to have it. So he went on the internet and came across my email address. I called him today and spoke with him .....a very nice man......and he wants only the postage for this picture and his wife will send it to me next week via UPS. So I am bringing it to this Nov. 8th get together for all to see and I think this is a very rare find and am really excited to get it. ................................

Thanks for everything......Sue
